The Man who Sees Calamity

Nike grew up in Kintaka, a small town in the far southern reaches of Tinuuku, where he head a fairly normal childhood, While he wasn't the best with weapons, he wasn't the worst either, and he seemed to fit in well enough with the other children. Then, one night when Nike slept, a dream came to him. Well, nightmare is a more accurate description. Something had entered his dreams and showed him visions. Visions of terrible things to come, of the baker's body buried under a the rubble of a house. He woke, hair bleached white from the experience, shivering in bed. Later that day, and earthquake rocked the town - natural or pokemon-made Nike would never known - and the baker's house collapsed, crushing him.

Knowing that he had been chosen to receive these visions, that day both destroyed and created Nike. The teen threw himself into his studies, searching desperately for an entity able to cause the dream he had. Part of him wanted no part of this new life, but the rest of him pushed on. His friends ostracized him, telling him that he was wasting his time with books when he should be training. His parents, who used to favor him, looked down on him with disdain and disappointment, asking themselves what they had done wrong. Nobody believed him, but Nike pressed on. He eventually stumbled upon the name Darkrai, a legend that held the power to grant visions of calamity in dreams. He erected a small shrine to the legend in his room and prayed daily to Darkrai. Dreams continued to come to him sporadically, always foretelling misfortune in the future, and Nike came to realize that Darkrai had chosen him as a human messenger on earth. A messenger of disaster. Around that time, Nemesis appeared to Nike, a baby Absol still developing its premonition muscles. His Absol, which was feared for legends about it, only served to ostracize Nike even more from his family. As Nike's powers began to develop, he learned how to control his dreaming, and even began to fight with shadows, a habit that his old friends despised, calling Nike a sorcerer.

A little over two months ago, Darkrai sent Nike the most disturbing vision he had seen in the past ten years. War tore through the land, bodies lying on the floor. A mysterious black pennant, unfamiliar to Nike, of a black background with a red Arcanine silhouette superimposed on it. The form of a giant pokemon, towering over a city. A hook handed man driving a knife into a woman's back. At the end, a large ruby, big as his fist, hung from a necklace, radiating power. Nike promised to himself to stop this disaster no matter the cost, and so he left his childhood home. He isn't sure where he is going, but he keeps his eyes peeled for signs and his mind open to further visions. Darkrai will guide him in this quest, and Nike will do whatever it takes to stop this disaster.

In order to stop disaster, Nike will sacrifice anything, including his morality

Nike is a tall man, though no giant. He tends to dress in dark clothes, oftentimes black or blue leather, which contrasts sharply with his shocking hair, which stark white. He wields no weapons and wears no armor, instead relying on his black eyes to intimidate his opponent.

Nike isn't a very personable person. He'd been ostracized since his teenage years, so he hasn't developed the social skills that most do during that time. Instead, he's obsessed with his calling, which is to be the voice and arms of Darkrai on earth, stopping disasters wherever he can. With a rather high minded attitude and no hesitation to resort to intimidation, Nike generally prefers force when he encounters resistance. His intentions are good, but he has a greater good mindset that allows him to justify just about anything as long as it serves the greater good, including murder.
